Jaguar Latest News on Downsize of Its Engines

At the middle of this spring it was announced that some rumors were coming from the owner of Jaguar cars – Tata Motors, about the possible downsize of Jaguar engines from the so much known, appreciated and simply acknowledged as the unique Jaguar feature V-8 engines to the V-6 ones. Even though not many details are now known, it is still not clear whether these are pleasant news that Jaguar lovers would want to hear.

Tata Motors seems to be quite serious about the matter, as it want’s to get rid of any Ford’s former features, and it seriously thinking about replacing the V-8 and JaguarV-6 engines with the supercharged three-liter V-6 ones and the turbocharged two-liter I4 engines. The supercharged 3-Litre V-6 engine will be based on Jaguar’s 5-Ltr V-8 and will be there to replace some of the versions in new upcoming Jaguar models which are maid mainly for the export. Those engines will be available in two versions of 380hp and also the 340hp possibly coming in the upcoming Jaguar F-type sports models in year 2013.

Both engines are expected to be hooked to the eight-speed automatic gear ( which is already successfully used on the 2.2-Ltr I4 turbo-diesel engine of XF) and the V-6 will have a special stop-start system
