Jaguar F-Type tested a supersonic parachute for the car

Coupe Jaguar F-Type R has experienced parachute system, which will soon be used for supersonic vehicle Bloodhound SSC, under construction to establish a new speed record. The parachute opened when the sports car scored 290 kilometers per hour.
To jet Bloodhound SSC will be managed by the British Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green. He was at the wheel “Jaguar” during the race. According to him, “if the parachute system has worked for 290 kilometers per hour, it definitely works and 1,600 kilometers per hour.”

In May, Jaguar announced cooperation with the project Bloodhound. The jet car will be used 550-strong five-liter “eight” of the F-Type R, which uses for the fuel transfer. The movement of the Bloodhound will lead the other two engines – a rocket and a jet. The total output of these units will be about 30-40 thousand horsepower.

The development of Bloodhound SSC is being supported by the UK Government since 2008. The public debut of the car will take place on November 17 this year in the British Cornwall when the car made its first test drive, speeding up to 320 kilometers per hour.
