Is the Jaguar XJ Model Engine Under European Ban?

We all are aware of the ongoing campaign to turn to other sources of the energy needed to travel by car because of the great amount of emissions that the cars let into the atmosphere. As the modern trend made it possible to construct new types of the engines, the companies, especially luxurious ones like the Jaguar do implement it on regular basis.

However, according to the publication of the Autocar, the “predator” differs from its competitors in the algorithm functioning of the power plant. “Japanese” and “Germans” go first on the engine, and the “XJ” model on the highway will drive with only electric power. Technique in its essence is a collaboration of Jaguar and engineering department of the company Lotus – thus the engine includes an electric motor, an outstanding 145 kW (197 hp) and 400 Nm, and 47-horsepower gasoline engine of 1.2 liters. The sole purpose of the latter – energize lithium-ion batteries.

This decision was prompted by the British tendency towards forming the ecologically clean areas in European cities. Most part of the modern cars with conventional engines will have a ban to entry into such European areas. But hybrid Jaguar XJ, that was proven to be emitting into the atmosphere only about 120 grams of CO2 per kilometer, does not fall under the ban.
