Grand Review: Jaguar XE: X-Type successor Part I

The first experience of Jaguar D-class was not too successful. X-Type was a good car on the platform of reliable Ford Mondeo, but do not live up expectations. However, the Jaguar Company abandoned the idea to develop this segment and now the company presented a new model – XE. The work on it took almost five years.
Unlike its predecessor, Jaguar XE is built on the rear-wheel drive platform. It is completely new, and it will also use the XF sedan second generation. Car a little smaller than the X-Type (4672 mm), but its wheelbase is much larger – 2835 mm. It is wider (1849 mm) and lower (1416 mm). In the design of the car is widely used aluminum alloys and magnesium, so small mass of the initial version – 1475 kg. In addition, we have the most streamlined serial Jaguar with a drag coefficient of 0.26.

The design – no revolutions: HE looks like a reduction in the size XF. However, this does not mean that the appearance of low-key. Before us – a classic sports sedan with a long hood relief, short overhangs and shifted back parlor. The wide radiator grille with chrome decorated. The narrow headlights with swept LED fluorescent tubes added rapacity “look” XE.

Sides decorated with small ventilation holes. Large angle of the windscreen, a high window line and the pull-down silhouette profile of the roof of the car make rapid. The boot lid is sharpened, and the edges of the body are located behind the large lights. Option XE S can be recognized by an aerodynamic body kit, 19-inch alloy wheels (instead of the standard 17-inch) and a rear spoiler.
