The smallest XE sedan was equipped with all-wheel drive that connect the front axle via the multi-disc clutch. The rear to all-wheel drive transition is carried out at 165 milliseconds. The need for torque transfer to the front wheels is determined by the Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) system, which debuted on the F-Type coupe. It monitors tires’ grip on the road, sideways acceleration and steering wheel angle.

According to the chief-designer Ian Callum, the Jaguar brand is planning to replace the XJ flagship sedan by the new one. The company wants to make the model more practical and stylish.
